Trevor George
Consultant
Trevor has specialised in Private Client work since qualifying as a solicitor in 1977.
He has an in-depth knowledge of the taxes that can eat into a family’s wealth – principally inheritance tax and capital gains tax – and wide experience in planning to mitigate their impact.
Trevor not only prepares Wills and new trusts and settlements, but also deals with changes to existing trusts and breaking trusts that have served their purpose. Knowing that not all family problems are tax related, Trevor also deals with issues associated with the elderly and incapacitated
Over the course of his long legal career, Trevor has been appointed as executor and trustee by many of his clients, and has also acted as an Attorney or a Court of Protection Deputy for clients who have lost mental capacity.
Trevor has a particular interest in planning for succession in family businesses, and has acted for directors of PLCs, owners of private companies and partnerships. Careful planning can often avoid family disputes when the ownership of the family business passes from one generation to the next. Trevor’s experience in this field enables him to assess the potential problem areas and to offer good practical advice as well as the legal framework to support this.
