Pauline Anning
Consultant
Pauline has over twenty years’ experience in advising corporate entities, public authorities, trustees and unions in respect of every aspect of occupational pension schemes.
Clients applaud Pauline for her clear and unambiguous advice, attention to detail, and practical approach. In an area of law that is fraught with complexity, she seeks solutions to the problems that arise, and tries to minimise the impact of pension legislation.
Examples of Pauline’s experience include:
- Advising venture capitalists in respect of the “moral hazard” provisions of the Pensions Act 2004, liaising with the Pensions Regulator, and obtaining clearance.
- Assisting corporate clients in removing its liabilities in respect of a final salary pension scheme, putting in place a scheme apportionment arrangement, and obtaining clearance.
- Advising clients on risk reduction exercises, including the closure of pension schemes to future accrual, benefit redesign and enhanced transfer exercises.
- Advising clients on all pensions aspects of PFI outsourcing, including negotiation of GAD passport schemes.
Pauline is able to appreciate the difficulties faced by both employers and trustees of pension schemes. She has a strong commercial background which informs her advice to employers and enables her to hone in on the issues of concern. For many years, she has also acted as a professional trustee of final salary pension schemes, and this has given her an important practical insight to the day-to-day difficulties faced by trustees.
Pauline is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers, and the National Association of Pension Funds.
Pauline is an avid theatre-goer, when she has the opportunity. She is also an enthusiastic tennis player, and member of her local village tennis club.
